Join us for a friendly Saturday walk — no pressure, just boots on and a sense of adventure.
We're St Edwards Fellwalkers, North Tyneside's original all-weather walking club. Guests always welcome.
Every walk is different — but always scenic, always sociable. We explore:
Northumberland • The Lakes • Cumbria • Scottish Borders • County Durham • North Yorkshire • Yorkshire Dales
We head out every second Saturday, with walks across the North of England and Scottish Borders.
Just pick a date, reserve a seat, and hop on the coach from North Tyneside or Newcastle. Lace up your boots and walk with us.
Come as a guest first — no pressure to join. Most of our members started that way!

After the walk, most of us usually gather at a friendly local pub or cafe. It's the perfect chance to relax, share stories and enjoy a glass of something before we head back home on the coach.
Whether it's a pint, a coffee, or just a good laugh with new friends, it's all part of the St Edwards Fellwalkers experience.
No. We take our name from St. Edward’s Amateur Boxing Club, which was formed in the 1960s, originally training in the old St. Edward's School gym. We're a friendly, non-religious walking club open to all.
You’ll need comfortable walking boots with good grip, weather-appropriate clothing, a waterproof jacket, and a small rucksack with water, snacks, and a packed lunch.
Layers are best, so you can adjust to changes in temperature. A warm hat and gloves are a good idea in cooler months, and when the days are shorter, a working torch is essential.
Absolutely — we welcome guests on every walk. Many of our members started out that way. Just contact us to book your seat, and show up ready to walk!
Each Saturday we offer a choice of walks, from gentle 5-mile routes with little climbing to longer, more challenging hikes of up to 14–15 miles. We do ask that you’re able to walk at least 8 miles comfortably.
On the day, you’ll be able to choose a walk that suits your pace and energy level, and our leaders are happy to offer advice if you’re unsure.
Our coach runs from Tynemouth to Gosforth, with pick-up points along the way including Whitley Bay, Four Lane Ends, and Longbenton. Use the map above to find the stop that’s most convenient for you, or ask us when booking.
Our coach company does not permit dogs on the coach. Occasionally, members join walks by car, but for practical reasons and out of consideration for other members, dogs are not allowed on any club walks.
It’s a full-day adventure for less than the cost of fuel and parking — just turn up and enjoy.
Booking a guest spot with St Edwards Fellwalkers is simple. Just call or email us with your name, the walk you’re interested in, and your preferred pick-up point. We’ll reply with everything you need to know — no commitment required.
